My blend of analytic and technical skills with seasoned business experience that allows me to create excellent models for planning, decision analysis and sales support.
On the sale of my last company, I created a strategic growth business model to facilitate the analysis and valuation of the company by prospective buyers. The model was described as “beautiful” by a consultant engaged to represent us on the sale. The lead financial executive from the buyer described the model as “the best one he’d every seen.”
When I was doing independent consulting, one of my projects was to step in when a controller quit just weeks before the company’s annual plan was due to corporate. Nothing had been done. I knew from experience that a bottoms-up approach would take too long, but that a top-down approach would not yield enough detail and realism. I worked with the management team to create a hybrid model that used the current year forecast as the base, identified the “critical changes” at the department level that were foreseen by functional heads and then incorporated dozens of variables in rates of change and business transactions that could drive the end result.
As we sat with the executive team from the corporate office, we were able to make changes on the fly to the model for various assumptions and scenarios, and within several hours completed an annual plan that all agreed upon at the top level, but with all the detail necessary to drive departmental spending. The corporate executives were highly complimentary of the model, as was the general manager who engaged me to do the project.
I enjoy this type of work and would welcome the opportunity to create the same great solutions for you.
