{"id":24,"date":"2015-02-15T12:39:11","date_gmt":"2015-02-15T18:39:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.garymeisner.com\/?p=24"},"modified":"2015-02-26T01:57:58","modified_gmt":"2015-02-26T07:57:58","slug":"annual-planning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/garymeisner.com\/cfo\/annual-planning\/","title":{"rendered":"Annual Planning"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The Problem &#8211; The planning process took too long and couldn&#8217;t respond to changes.<\/h2>\n<p>Annual plans took months to develop and required weeks of time by managers.\u00a0 The roll up of the components usually fell short of our top level income targets.\u00a0 Plans were difficult to explain to the corporate office.\u00a0 Significant changes were invariably made in the 11th hour of the approval process that undermined the integrity of links between company plan targets and departmental budgets.<\/p>\n<h2>The Solution &#8211; A planning model with input for critical departmental changes.<\/h2>\n<p>I conceived and implemented a planning model by income statement line that handled all company-wide changes for volume, price, salary increases, etc., at the macro level, but that provided managers the capability to input &#8220;critical changes&#8221; within their own departments.\u00a0 The model approach provided complete flexibility and control over changes and made explanations of variances a simple process.\u00a0 This was then integrated into advanced planning tools from Adaytum and Hyperion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Problem &#8211; The planning process took too long and couldn&#8217;t respond to changes.
