By working over half dozen with industry-leading companies through my career, I’ve had the benefit of being trained in a variety of different tools and techniques for decision support and analysis, team facilitation, brainstorming, meeting management, quality management, process improvement and other skills.
While I was at La-Z-Boy corporate office, consultants from Kepner Tregoe were engaged to teach the team in project management, problem solving and decision analysis. The decision analysis tools were particularly helpful. When Kepner Tregoe taught these principles in an engagement with NASA, decisions that previously took committees months to make could be made in hours or days. The techniques solicited input from all participants, which improved the thoroughness and quality of the decision, and provided a methodology that quantified the basis for the decision so that all could understand and agree.
